Defensive Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Assurance
Commercial referenceDEF-001
When contacting BivectorAI, quote DEF-001 — Defensive Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Assurance.
Who this is for
Critical-infrastructure security leads and defensive-cyber program managers tracking configuration, provenance, and recovery drift across software and operational boundaries.
The problem you already have
Drift accumulates in the relationships between changes, not inside any one change
Configuration, provenance and recovery state each drift a little at a time across software, infrastructure and operational boundaries. No single change looks dangerous — the risk lives in how several small changes compound.
A dependency update can pass every name and version check while quietly asking for more
A package that keeps the same name and a routine-looking version bump can still change shape underneath — a build step that starts reading environment variables it never touched before, a new privileged edge crossing a boundary it was never inside. Name and version checks have no way to see that.
The review doesn't require production credentials or live access
Never requested, and structurally rejected if submitted: production credentials, live system access, or classified infrastructure-topology data.
Real-World Operational Scenario: The Library Update That Quietly Asked For More
Scenario: A routine dependency update ships — same package, version 2.3.1 to 2.3.2, changelog says "bug fixes."
Automated scanners check the package name against known-malicious lists, find nothing, and the update sails through.
WITHOUT this check: The new version's build chain adds a step that reads environment variables it never touched before — a new privileged edge that a name-based or version-based scan has no way to see, because nothing about the package identity changed.
WITH this check: The dependency graph's shape is compared against the approved baseline, not just its name and version. The update is flagged as a topological deformation — a build-chain edge crossed into environment-variable access it never had — regardless of what the version number or changelog claims.
What you provide
Redacted evidence already collected by your security, software-supply-chain, OT/ICS, incident-response and change-management tooling — including SBOM/provenance artifacts, boundary and event records, traffic-characterization evidence, resilience records, and configuration/change state. DEF-001 does not require live production access to perform this review.
What BivectorAI Provides
Shape Change Detection, Not Just Name and Version Checks
Dependency and configuration changes are compared against an approved baseline as a graph structure — catching a change that adds a privileged edge or unexpected access path even when its name, version, and changelog all look routine.
Automatic Past and Future Tracing for Every Incident
A suspected incident gets a computed set of plausible causal sources and a computed set of likely affected assets — turning hours of manual log tracing into a bounded, reviewable set the moment an alert fires.
Unknown Provenance Is Flagged, Never Silently Trusted
An incomplete package, missing lockfile, or unverifiable source is recorded as an evidence gap in the certificate — not quietly treated as acceptable because nothing else looked wrong.
Hash-Sealed Certificates for Post-Event Review
Every drift classification traces back to the exact configuration, dependency, and provenance evidence that justified it at the time.
Seven assurance operations in one defensive runtime
DEF-001 packages seven bounded assessment operations behind one dedicated customer-controlled runtime. Operations can run independently or be combined through the DEF-001 Assurance Bundle.
SBOM Integrity
Reviews software-supply-chain and component evidence for integrity, provenance and material risk signals without treating an unchanged package name or version as sufficient proof of safety.
OT/ICS Boundary
Evaluates operational-technology boundary evidence and distinguishes authorized conditions from unauthorized boundary behavior and safety-system integrity concerns.
DoS Characterization
Characterizes availability and traffic evidence so reviewers can distinguish legitimate load changes from patterns requiring defensive review.
Incident Forensics
Produces bounded incident evidence including plausible causal and affected-state relationships supported by the submitted evidence.
Resilience Test
Evaluates supplied resilience evidence against the defined assurance boundary without taking autonomous control of customer infrastructure.
Change & Configuration Integrity
Detects material configuration and dependency-shape changes against approved evidence rather than relying only on names, versions or changelog text.
DEF-001 Assurance Bundle
Combines assessment evidence into a bounded program-level result across the DEF-001 assurance surface.
Bounded decisions
DEF-001 returns PASS, REVIEW, BLOCK or ROLLBACK. ROLLBACK is a recommendation only; the runtime does not autonomously execute infrastructure rollback.
Representative Synthetic Customer Pilot
A locked representative synthetic pilot exercised the complete six-profile, seven-operation DEF-001 matrix under continuous execution. These are internal reproducible benchmark results, not customer field validation or independent certification.
2,934 underlying evidence records
Six representative profiles: nominal baseline, legitimate traffic surge, supply-chain drift, OT boundary violation, correlated incident and post-change risk.
42 canonical cases
Six profiles × seven assurance operations, with each canonical case executed three times.
126 / 126 successful API executions
The final continuous run returned 126 HTTP 200 responses, zero HTTP 429 responses, zero transport errors and zero retries.
100% semantic repeatability
42 / 42 canonical cases were semantically repeatable across three executions, with 18 / 18 DEF-001 Assurance Bundle assertions passing.
5.243 ms p50
Median measured request latency in the locked internal synthetic test environment.
7.920 ms p95
95th-percentile measured latency; maximum observed latency was 22.193 ms. These figures are test-environment measurements, not contractual performance guarantees for arbitrary customer hardware.
Benchmark boundary. No retry, cooldown or rate-limit environment override was used in the final run. Evidence class: Representative Synthetic Customer Pilot.
Customer-controlled on-prem and air-gapped delivery
No public Defense API dependency
DEF-001 is delivered for local, private, on-prem or air-gapped use. Its local assurance runtime does not depend on a BivectorAI public Defense API.
No vendor-imposed request quota by default
The dedicated on-prem runtime defaults to unlimited request volume. Customers may configure a non-zero local resource limit when required by their own infrastructure policy.
Signed release integrity with operator-controlled trust
Signed manifest and SHA256 verification
Customer delivery includes a signed release manifest plus binary and package SHA256 verification so the delivered artifact can be checked against its declared identity.
Monotonic release lineage
Release identity is bound to an explicit sequence and previous-manifest lineage rather than accepting an untracked replacement artifact.
Operator-approved trust-root transition
A trust-root transition requires explicit out-of-band operator approval of the new release-root fingerprint and fails closed when approval, lineage or signature verification does not match.
Private signing material is not shipped
The customer-delivery package contains public verification material and verification tooling, not the private release-signing key.
Already have an OT or cyber security stack? Keep it.
DEF-001 is not positioned as a replacement project for the customer's existing OT sensors, SIEM, SBOM scanners, vulnerability tooling, incident-response systems or change-management platform.
It consumes redacted evidence those systems already produce and applies a separate bounded assurance layer across software-supply-chain integrity, OT/ICS boundaries, availability evidence, incident forensics, resilience and configuration change.
| Existing customer capability | What DEF-001 adds |
|---|---|
| OT monitoring and asset-security tooling | Bounded assurance over exported OT/ICS boundary and safety-related evidence without requiring BivectorAI to replace the monitoring stack. |
| SBOM, vulnerability and software-supply-chain tooling | Integrity, provenance and relationship-level change assessment that can be combined with operational evidence in the same assurance runtime. |
| SIEM and incident-response tooling | Bounded review of plausible causal sources and affected-state relationships using the evidence already collected by the customer. |
| Change and configuration management | Relationship and graph-shape integrity checks designed to identify material changes that ordinary name, version or changelog review can miss. |
| Multiple point-tool outputs | One seven-operation assurance bundle with bounded PASS / REVIEW / BLOCK / ROLLBACK recommendations for human review. |
Positioning boundary. DEF-001 complements existing security infrastructure. BivectorAI does not claim that this public synthetic benchmark establishes superiority over any named third-party product.
Why evaluate DEF-001 now
No rip-and-replace project
Start with redacted evidence from tooling the organization already operates. A buyer can evaluate the assurance layer before making a broader integration decision.
No live-production access requirement
DEF-001 can operate on customer-prepared evidence without requiring BivectorAI to receive production credentials or direct access to the operational network.
Seven assurance operations, one runtime
Supply-chain integrity, OT/ICS boundary review, DoS characterization, incident forensics, resilience, change/configuration integrity and the combined assurance bundle are delivered through one controlled runtime.
Designed for restricted environments
Local, private, on-prem and air-gapped operation allows the customer to retain control of evidence and deployment boundaries.
Evidence before trust
Benchmark methodology, result records, release identity, package hashes, security evidence and claims boundaries are available for technical diligence instead of requiring the buyer to rely only on marketing claims.
Human authority remains outside the runtime
DEF-001 returns bounded assurance decisions and recommendations. Operational authority, legal authorization and final action remain with the customer.
Controlled diligence package available
Qualified counterparties can review a structured DEF-001 diligence package before a broader acquisition or field-of-use decision.

Start with controlled diligence around DEF-001, your existing security stack and the specific assurance gap you need to close.
Request DEF-001 Controlled Diligence →What we will never ask you for
Never requested, and structurally rejected if submitted: production credentials, live system access, or classified infrastructure-topology data, or your system's core design data. Every submission is checked against this rejection list before any evidence logic runs — a malformed or over-broad submission is blocked and reported back to you, not silently processed.
